The team at Steel Road uses a combination of traditional and modern cabinet making methods and offers a range of services in the manufacture and design of timber furnishings and beyond. Working directly with our customers, we are able to design, manufacture, deliver and install products for both commercial and residential interiors.

Bespoke, Handcrafted, Custom Furniture
Steel Road Custom Furniture manufactures all types of product not limited to furniture. Our specialised area is in timber manufacturing using traditional and modern methods of cabinetmaking, which includes bending, turning and shaping wood. The incorporation of other materials is considered, however limited to small applications. We mainly work in carefully selected furniture grade solid timbers, premium veneer, and interior plywood.
Wide Belt Sander
Don’t waste time sanding again. Our industrial ‘Wide Belt Sander’ can sand table tops, benchtops, slabs and timber components. Our 1300mm sanding width, flattens and sands from 80 to 120 grit. We also have further options available for sanding edges, finish sanding to 180-240 grit and application of finish. $60 per sqm for tables – $90 per sqm for slabs, this includes sanding both sides. Discounts for larger quantities.
Commercial Grade Furniture Finishing
All our timber products are finished with a durable coating, suitably chosen for their aesthetic and durability. We offer our clients a range of finishing options; lacquering, painting, colour matching, traditional oils, waxes, staining, two-pack clear, two-pack painted and liming. These examples are just some of the various products and techniques used to achieve our customer’s needs.
Architectural & Wood Components – Building Options
Steel Road Custom Furniture manufactures a variety of traditional and modern architectural designed solid timber products for residential and commercial clients. Our Architectural services assist in the manufacture of windows, doors, fascia’s, handrails, stair treads, bench tops, trusses, columns, beam boxes and more. These superior quality timber products are custom manufactured to your specifications.
Commercial Furniture Fit Outs
We design, manufacture and install furniture for commercial office, retail, hospitality, cafes, restaurants, aged care and childcare facilities.
Design Development and Prototyping – Research and Development
Steel Road Custom Furniture offers expert consultation in the development of aesthetically pleasing, structurally sound and most importantly a fully functioning product. We will work with you to get the best possible results from your chosen material, design and budget, without compromising your creative vision. In addition to the manufacture of finished products we also offer prototyping services in which we can make a scaled model from a design.
Timber Bending - Steam And Laminate Bending
We use a unique technique for steam bending wood, which ensures quality and consistency. Steel Road Custom Furniture manufactures bent hardwood furniture components from a select range of Australian and imported timber species. Our steam bending services assist in the manufacture of curved or arch shaped structures for window heads, furniture components, architectural fascia’s, curved handrails, doorways, contemporary designs, sculptures and more.
Woodturning – Spindle And Facework
We manufacture simple woodturned parts, custom-made to your specifications. Steel Road can replicate a sample or work from drawings, in a variety of Australian or imported timber species.

We offer affordable, Australia-wide delivery, using a select number of leading carriers. Being based in Yackandandah (Victoria) and so accessible to many major highways, it easy to deliver Australia wide so everyone can enjoy our products as much as we do! We ship to every single address in Australia. As long as there's a road to reach the property, we deliver to there! Furthermore, with a range of dedicated courier services, we make sure your furniture arrives in perfect condition. The size of your order and the fragility of the items dictates which courier service will be used.
