We are dedicated to teaching our students fine furniture making, by combining traditional skills with modern techniques. Located in Yackandandah, North East Victoria, we offer short courses for all skill levels, including beginners. Our students learn in small groups with hands-on instruction from experienced teachers in a well-equipped, world-class, workshop facility. The focus is on hand tools, joinery and sustainable practices, helping students build both technical skills and a respect for timber. We cultivate a supportive, creative environment where you can focus, gain confidence and grow as a woodworker — whether you’re just starting out or looking to improve your skills, we have a short course for you.

Elliot studied at the Australian National University Art School, specializing in furniture making, where he spent four years perfecting the craft of design and construction. Studying under the head of workshop Rodney Hayward in the Furniture / Wood Department, Elliot completed his BVA with first class honours in 2007. With a desire for teaching and sharing knowledge of traditional woodworking skills, Elliot began teaching at the Melbourne School of Fine Woodworking, where he was a regular tutor. As Elliot’s passion for teaching grew, he founded Handsome & Co – School of Woodworking & Design, which operated at capacity, in Richmond Victoria from 2013 – 2019. He led a team of talented tutors, ran short courses and instructed adult hobbyists in all areas of furniture making. In late 2019, Elliot moved his workshop and family to North East Victoria to start a new chapter.
