There are so many benefits to sourcing local, sustainable timbers. The environmental and economic factors come to mind quickly and should be considered when choosing a timber species for your project.

One subtler benefit in using local timber, is the team being able to select the boards for your project by hand! What does this mean? For species such as Otway’s Blackwood (pictured here) there can be a vast array of colours and tones – brown, red, blonde etc, which can be problematic if large surfaces such as tables are being made. Hand selecting boards means that we can choose the absolute premium pieces for your project.
